Watch last week's episode of 30 Rock. With its usual smart, funny and perfectly timed dialogue, this episode offers great commentary on current trends in American consumerism and the obsession with socially conscious products and stores. I'm all for more truly socially just purchasing habits. (Check out Trade As One.) But as this episode points out, sometimes its just a game for corporate America.
The episode also highlights what liberal media really is, and how crazy politicians can actually get voted into office. (Tea Party anyone?) I wondered for a bit how 30-Rock could get away with such an episode. But maybe the executives think the last laugh is still on us. After all, Liz Lemon didn't really want to give up her awesome jeans, even after discovering what the store was truly about. Are we, as consumers, really up for changing our buying habits even when we know the truth? Learn a little more about how you can stop being a part of the consumerism game by watching this video.
